Joanne Appleby was born and raised in the North East of England. She now resides in Manchester. She wrote a book of poems as a tribute to her mother to repay a debt of gratitude, a mother who gave her everything and asked for nothing in return. Joanne Appleby has also written two books; The Ripple of Dementia and I am Your Daughter, Mam. In addition, Joanne Appleby has written three children's books; The Swans of Border House Pond, Bobby the Allotment Robin and The Blackbird Who Lost His Voice.

The Blackbird who lost his voice, is a beautifully illustrated book about a Blackbird called Jet who loses his lovely singing voice. However, he is helped by his partner Rusty, who collects lots of juicy fresh fruits from the woods and gardens to help soothe his sore throat. The book is a lovely happy read for a child. Joanne is giving 3 copies away!

The book is square, 245mm and has a laminated/wipeable cover for those sticky fingers ! Illustrated by Katarina Nice.
