So last week i was able to arrange to share an allotment with someone that couldn't manage the whole plot. I am planning to do no dig, so clearing the long grass was what i had to tackle first. I had taken my 8 year old son and he suggested using the hoe to take off the grass which worked wonders. He doesn't have my brains thats for sure. 

Anyway we got to work and in an hour we were able to take out the old bays and clear th grass and weeds. Earlier we had collected a few boxes to use on the section we had cleared. With the cardboard down and dampening it we left ti for the day untill tomorrow.
